School Board Meeting Update-7/30/18

The following includes a summary of the School Board Meeting held on Monday, July 30, 2018.
On the agenda for the evening were reports from the Buildings and Grounds Committee, the District performance reports from David McPheeters, Director of Buildings and Grounds, Shawn Handland, Director of Finance, Rick Kline, Director of Transportation, Kerri Feyen, Director of School Nutrition and Troy Gunderson, Superintendent. Also on the agenda were approvals for teacher resignations/retirements, contract and hire approvals for Craig Halvorson as Director of Technology and Geoffrey Baumann as Director of Athletics, approval of co-curricular recommendations for high school volleyball, soccer, football, cross country, tennis and middle school volleyball, football and cross country, and approval of open enrollment requests for the 2018-2019 school year. The Board also received an update from School Nutrition Director Kerri Feyen, and approved a Nutrition Services Agreement with the School District of Bangor. A highlight included a lengthy discussion regarding the possibility of hosting a November referendum to exceed the revenue limit. This discussion focused on long-term financial estimate, tax rate estimates and voter information. The school board directed the administration to prepare a resolution for consideration at the school board meeting on August 13, 2018. Additional staffing requests for the 2018-2019 school year were also presented and approved and handbooks for the various school buildings were adopted.
The next board meeting will take place on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Heider Meeting Room.
