There are three levels of scholarships. 

Applications for those that are offered nationwide can be found at reputable scholarship search websites such as www.fastweb.com or www.studentscholarshipsearch.com  Remember:  You are competing for these with everyone in the United States.  If all it requires is a quick application, YES, take the time to complete it.  If it requires three letters of recommendation and an essay, you need to determine if this is truly worth both your time and the time from those who write your letters.

Beginning in October, check out "Current Area Scholarships" for those scholarships that are sent to student services.  These may be state scholarships or La Crosse area scholarships.  Many will have specific requirements (ex:  majoring in health science, gpa of 3.5 etc.)  Please check often for updates.

The LOCAL Scholarships (ex:  WS Community Foundation) application will be made available in March of 2012.  More information on those will be made available. 

Check out your parent's work place, your church, or other volunteer areas for scholarships you may be eligible for.
