12/10/2018 11:18 am

Updated 12/10/18-7:07 p.m.

Good Evening Panthers,
We would like to give you another update regarding the bomb threat received at West Salem High School earlier today. Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the threat originated from out of state and was not intended for West Salem High School. This incident is still under further investigation, but law enforcement and school officials are confident that all of our schools are safe. All schools and classes will run as normal tomorrow.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation today as we worked to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

West Salem High School was evacuated this morning as the result of a bomb threat. High school students and staff were housed in the Boys and Girls Club located in West Salem Middle School while local police, school district staff, and a dog trained in locating explosives searched the building. As a precaution, West Salem Elementary School and West Salem Middle School were secured and placed on external lockdown during the search process. Law enforcement found nothing to indicate the threat was legitimate and offered an "All Clear" at approximately 11:00AM.
Students and staff were allowed to return to the building. Classes will resume as scheduled for the remainder of the day, with the exception of afternoon 4K, which has been canceled.
