Scholarship Amounts and Remittance: Scholarship(s) will be distributed to graduating seniors based upon the recommendation of the Foundation High School Scholarship Committee. The number of scholarships and the amounts of the awards will be determined annually by the Foundation Board. The scholarship awards are to be given in two payments, each payable to the accredited college or technical school selected by the recipient(s). Recipients must maintain a grade point average of 2.5 on a scale of 4.0 and continue to pursue a healthcare related career to receive the second payment of the award. Application Requirements: All applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered. Applicant must be planning to pursue a professional career in a healthcare related field. Applicant must submit a completed scholarship application by the stated deadline. Application must include a letter of reference written by a non-related adult. Application must include an original essay of 300 to 400 words explaining their choice of career and its relationship to geriatrics and the scholarship criteria. Application must include current high school transcripts or verification of current GPA by high school guidance office official. Applicant must be willing to participate in a brief personal interview with the Scholarship Committee. Selection Criteria: The following factors will be considered by the Foundation Scholarship Committee when selecting award recipients. Applicant has indicated an intention to seek a degree with geriatric or gerontology emphasis. Any applicant who is a current or past employee or volunteer; or is the child or grandchild of an employee, MMH Board of Directors or Foundation Board member; or a relative of a current or past resident will be given additional consideration. Applicant has stated personal experience with individuals 70 years of age or older. This may include employment or volunteer experiences, significant personal relationships, or organizational involvement. High School academic involvement. Content and quality of applicant essay and letter of recommendation. Personal interview.
