Welcome to WSHS!

We are a comprehensive high school of approximately 550 students with a building staff of 70+ individuals committed to providing the best possible learning environment for our students to learn and grow. Our academic programming is rigorous and covers a broad spectrum. We offer "dual-credit" courses in core curricular areas and in our vocational [CTE] program. These courses are taught on our own campus by our own faculty, which provide students with actual college credit at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and Western Technical College. We are in the early stages of developing a range of AP courses. Students can earn vocational training in a fully equipped woods lab, professional-grade greenhouse and full-service auto lab. Our fine arts department provides students with excellent experiences ranging from the visual to the dramatic arts, including having the opportunity to participate in several different bands, vocal groups and numerous drama productions-all performing in a state-of-the-art auditorium with professional sound, light and stage systems. Our special education and academic assistance departments serve a diverse population and are committed to preparing our students for life beyond high school with a variety of transitionary experiences and opportunities.

WSHS is a 1:1 school! Our Board of Education made the commitment in 2012 to provide every student with an Apple MacBook Air for use at school and at home. We have "unplugged" from the wall so that our students have access to the world of knowledge and information anytime and anywhere. Our staff has embraced the use of technology in the classroom and model our district mission by being creative and innovative in order to positively impact student learning.

Athletically, we are a proud member of the Coulee Conference, offering our students opportunities to participate and compete in 15 different sports at the interscholastic level; ranging from volleyball to gymnastics, golf to hockey. Our athletes consistently compete at a high level and are seen representing WSHS and our community at the state level on a regular basis.

We are extremely proud of our high school! Please take some time to browse around and enjoy the information we provide here. Of course, you are always welcome to visit us "in person."  Our door is always open to visitors and we would love to have the chance to show you around our school and talk with you about what we have to offer. West Salem High School is a First Class school that takes great pride in establishing Respect, Integrity, Dedication and Excellence as our cornerstones.
